From the article: Russia is trying to buy time to continue the war in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on May 20, reacting to a recent call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky’s statement follows his call with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, during which the Ukrainian leader told his counterpart about his May 19 phone call with Trump, as well as the latter’s talks with Putin.

“It is obvious that Russia is trying to buy time to continue the war and occupation,” Zelensky said on X. “We are working with our partners to pressure the Russians to change their behavior.”

Zelensky thanked the partners who continue to impose sanctions on Russia for its aggression in Ukraine and stressed that the war should end at the negotiating table.

We all know it, Zelensky. Sadly though, we also know that the US is very clearly in support of Putin.

This whole episode of the war, since Trump’s return to office, has been a choreographed performative charade, aka a puppet show. Hillary Clinton wasn’t wrong when she called Trump out on live TV during the debates in 2016 for as much, and it’s only proven true time and again since. “But Trump sent Javelins!” So… what?

Putin doesn’t give a shit(!) that his people are getting slaughtered with American hardware; it’s a built-in cost to carry out this farce. And just as the sacrifices made won’t touch Putin or Trump, the rewards gained won’t touch the Russian or American people. It’s all just a “business investment” to them, and they’re playing with “house money” and human lives as capital.

In no sane way does Trump’s doctrine of capitulation and weakness heighten anyone’s sense of security… and that’s the point!
