“Trump non ha tradito l’Europa, si è tradito”, “penso che abbia semplicemente giudicato male la situazione nei negoziati con Putin. O ha sopravvalutato la sua forza come presidente americano”, il ministro della difesa tedesco Pistorius.

What strength?
Trump slowly trying to walk this one back just isn’t gonna happen. The entire world has knives out for America now including its ~~former~~ allies and it feels weird saying that given how geostrategically important America has been for the last 80 years.
Oh well. Europe is building its own standing military finally formerly as a result with laws impending from the EU government about its forces and structure and roles.
Time to shut down the US army hospitals in Germany and see how they like that.
Just love all the people pushing Russian propaganda that the US has abandoned Europe… not.
Trump just doesn’t have any cards.
Have another can of copium.
I dont think ‘betrayal’ is a useful frame. It just leads to unconstructive grievances.
The key is to realise that Trump is a fascist and US is sliding rapidly into fascim. We do not share values with the US. They are not a reliable partner.
Europe needs to sort its own situation and learn to deal with Russia.
sauce pls?
Should’ve referred to him as “…the [temporary] American president” to really twist the knife and remind him his power has an expiration date.
Hopelessly naive
20 years ago my thoughts on America was dog muck between Canada and Mexico. Now it’s just a cesspool overflowing with dog muck.
The Art of the Squeal.
Trump is a terrible negotiator. He made basic mistakes that a good negotiator would never make.
He made it clear that he needed a positive result. A good negotiator makes it known that walking away is always an option.
Trump tried to deal with a maximalist such as Putin by giving things away up front. A maximalist will always resort to extreme demands until the last minute and view concessions as indications of weakness, which will only lead to more demands.
Trump is a bully who only wins when he can bully the other side in a lopsided relationship. That is rarely going to work with foreign policy, and it often doesn’t even work in business.
I know I am going to sound like an idiot, but as I was scrolling, I genuinely thought that man was Kevin Spacey for a moment.
😶
I would like these leaders to stop giving trump the benefit of the doubt.
I thought he was Kevin Spacey at first.
So basically Trump dumb
We betrayed ourselves by convincing ourselves that the US and its taxpayers are always going to protect us. It’s on us to rectify it, Germany is more guilty of that than anyone else. If we are one US election away from a continental wide security crisis, that’s on us, not on Trump.
No one says Trump talks sense, but on this particular point, he is right. We should be willing and able to protect ourselves without help from them. And without being accountable to ourselves, then what’s the point in all this talk.
Putin made Trump look like a paper tiger. Not good
That’s bait. They want to enrage him.
FWIW, I thought he would eventually get mad at Putins intransigence and just go “eff it. We are sending F16’s and MLRS. We have the best F16’s in the world folks… they are really great. And our rocket launchers, well they launch multiple rockets. Multiple rockets with range to Moscow, so amazing”
I encourage Europe to unify in all ways and embrace its Asian partners. When the US recovers, you can decide if its worth the baggage. and by all means, isolate the Russians. Their society is sicker than the Americans and set for another grand collapse.
The EU is betraying Europe.
Uh oh. President Trump is never wrong and He’s right about everything. 🇺🇸
Well… That’s a kind take I guess…
