When you stand up and say “The days where South Asian communities get to lead political parties and get to lead countries is now upon us” then others can easily infer that to imply that imparting minority beliefs and values will be part of your political agenda of leading a country.

Even if that’s not what is inferred or meant.

I was expecting the ad to be unfair but actually it’s pretty sensible.

    3. concretepigeon on

Is this an unreasonable suggestion to make about someone whose dad left the British Parliament to run for office in Pakistan?

    4. Financial-Couple-836 on

Is there any suggestion the £7k came from public funds?  If not then what does it matter how much it cost

    5. Busy_Protection_4358 on

Reform has one weakness Farage’s ongoing Trump butt kissing and his support for the extreme MAGA views, we need changes but not at the expense of truth and not with hatred, there’s enough of the latter in this country already.

Sarwar says his comments have been taken out of context, but what exactly was the context supposed to be then? In any case these ads hardly seem outrageous by the standards of political campaigning. Even if there is appropriate context for the original remarks, well, political advertisements stretch the truth all the time regardless of party affiliation.

7000 pounds is like a quarter page ad in a local newspaper.

    8. belterblaster on

Oh no! Reform are quoting people saying things, this is outrageous!

    9. Wise_Commission_4817 on

The guy who made a speech in front of the Pakistan flag? He wouldn’t would he?

I don’t like reform but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he did want to do that based on his speech

    10. SuspiciousAgency5025 on

Reform UK PLC LTD INC will only prioritise themselves

    11. AddictedToRugs on

Sarwar walked straight into this.  His comment was an unforced error.  His comment was even worse than Reform are making out.  He didn’t say “British Pakistanis should be represented in every political party”, he said “*Pakistan* should be represented in every political party”.  No foreign country should be represented in any British political party.  Reform have gone easy on him.

As “Jock’s” you should know that theCLAN system is still alive and well in certain communitys. Just ask Gorgeousgeorge G, landslide in at the local level, then to be ignominiously Dumped at the General election. the sight of the GINGER Minge Ange almost on her knees down at the Mosque Begging the Elders to vote labour. “pass the sickbag”

He might as well say . This time next year . They will all be millionaires. Because he has no chance of doing either.

    14. Crumpetlust on

Sadiq khan does just that, so does the Birmingham mayor. Anywhere they get into power they prioritise their own

    15. Latter-Employer4280 on

Not surprised its an article by LBC, the wokest media in Britain

    16. Dazzling_Whereas_183 on

Google this guy. Google what he says about “South Asians” ( we all know he means Pakistani Muslim, I doubt he cares about Sikh’s ).

If anything Reform should be far more aggressive with this

These people are immensely tribal, this absolutely has to be dealt with otherwise it will slowly and silently dismantle our government and economic structures.

The UK works by in large because we have a good approximation of meritocracy where individuals vote and hire and promote individuals based on merit. These tribal structures work where tribal members vote and hire and promote based on clan membership as a block. It is antipathetic to our whole societal structure.

    17. BlinkysaurusRex on

To be fair, what he said was pretty fucking stupid. Speaking as someone who loathes reform with every fibre of my being.

Imagine saying this as a major office politician: “Liverpool needs to be represented in every mainstream political party in Scotland and across the UK. The days where scousers get to lead political parties and get to lead countries is now upon us.” Bro, you’re a British politician. It’s UK first. The *entire* UK and all of its denizens with equal consideration and priority.

He was at some independence commemoration event so this is probably just bluster that he didn’t think through, which has bit him in the ass.

    18. Chilling_Dildo on

While I find these ads disgusting, £7k is fuck-all, and articles like this actually spread their bullshit much, much, much further than the little scabby Facebook feeds they were destined for.

    19. David_Kennaway on

No Foriegn country should be represented in any UK political party. That’s breaking the electoral rules. The Reform add is totally correct.

    20. shotta-dorris-OG on

Doogielion doesn’t care about facts he’s just a typical Redditor when it comes to politics, if you’re not left on this app you’re not right lol

    21. BastCity on

The party pledging to cut government’s wasteful spending is focusing on this, and taking Ukraine flags off buildings, without a hint of self-awareness in their tone.

    22. Quinn-Helle on

Those ads aren’t outrageous, that leader absolutely wants to prioritise the Pakistani community.

He’s not the only one either, here’s looking at you Tahir Ali.

    23. MPforNarnia on

But they got appropriately punished for their illegal ads during brexit, right?… Right?

    24. PotionThrower420 on

Thus isn’t new it’s been obvious for a while now. They just happened to openly challenge it.

    25. EverythingIsANaziNow on

“People outrages as political party put ads showing what their opponent said.”

Maybe if they don’t want them making ads about him prioritising the Pakistani community, he shouldn’t be putting out statements next to a Pakistani flag saying that his priority is focusing on the Pakistani community?
