Another Bam missed deadline, and yet they are still winning new government contracts. Definitely, Brown envelopes going around there .

Is there nothing in the contract that says “if you miss a deadline you lose x amount” or anything?

I’m sure it will miss the next one too.

Hmm…are we really still calling it “new”?

Maybe if we threw more money at it, it would………….. miss the completion date more quietly?

Look, call it new when it opens but right now its an old old building site

This is embarassing, check out the new childrens hospital in Zurich, completed in 4 years quicker and for a third of the price, and it was designed by one of the most renowned architects in the world Herzog & co

as much as we all BAM ( no argument here) i think part of the blame is the government changing building requirements mid build ( which was required imo) and the govermnent asking for layouts to change

I’m shocked, anyone else shocked?
It has been a fine example of state efficiency so far, and the cunts who contracted for it are still contracting for other state projects.

I’m shocked I’m telling you, shocked! 🤣

I suspect when the inevitable tribunal and probable CAB and criminal investigations are held into this we’ll find that the costs of the Dublin Children’s Hospital were closer to €4 billion than €2.24 billion. This was built in the wrong location by the wrong people. If 10 years ago it had been built on a greenfield site around the M50 and awarded to the anyone other than the lowest cowboy bidder it would have cost far less than 1 billion and have opened 5 years ago.

One of the big issues with public procurement here is that those forecasting how much a project like this might cost; have no idea what the cost actually might be. If the scope of the contract changes, it is always going to be a lot more expensive.

Can we start organising an event for everytime the Children’s Hospital misses a deadline? I think a big Mexican wave and the crowd going “Whey!” would brighten the mood considerably.
