It’s only a matter of time until this happens in the UK too.
It’ll be the same here in Norway. The boomers have ascended into to retirement heaven, and they have pulled the ladder up behind them.
As a Gen X, it is not myself I worry for, but the younger generation. They are getting a rotten deal.

It’s not enough to hear from most of boomers and early X gens that they don’t give a shit about environment, or cost of living that fuck us over, they also actively work to make sure we don’t get a fucking break!
The title is not directly correct pension has for people born in a certain interval hit 70, but it is still increasing. For people in the late 1990’ties the pension age will be 74. The only pension ages that have not changed is for politicians in the national parliament or ministers which is at 60.
Eat the rich
To anyone that thinks that low birth rates are not a problem, this is the main consequence they have on society. Not enough people on working age to maintain the retired, so the solution they see is to raise the retirement age.
the life expectancy in denmark is far over 80 and increasing, you cannot expect that people will be able to retire and live for 20 years on publicly funded retirement that’s equal to 50% of their final wages while also using disproporitionate ammounts of healthcare resources. That simply does not hold water at all. it mearly moves the money from the young to the old. it makes the situation worse and worse.
No, you can’t say “but i have to suffer so i should get to impose suffering on others” shut up. You change the system, accept the reality, and punch old people in the face whenever you see them (in minecraft) like a reasonable person.
This is immoral.
This is only to reduce pension when people retire early, nobody wants people to work until that age

Unpopular opinion, but it’s pretty much an unavoidable that other countries will also have to raise to retirement age. There are too many old people. Young people can’t be expect to shoulder the burden of paying for their healthcare and social security. Especially not since housing has become unaffordable.
This is how communism/fascism gains momentum… I am really scared for the future…
They should kill the people who retired at an earlier age to equalize the amount of time spent in retirement.
If their lordships can work until they are 70, jumping from one position on the board of directors of the lobbyist company of the day to another, why shouldn’t the populace?

At my mom’s work there is a woman around 56 years old and she can’t do everything properly due to her age, and other people have to do it in her stead. How do they imagine people approaching 70 are supposed to do their work if many of them are basically disabled??
Just yesterday, here in North Macedonia, a new law was passed which will allow young people ( in particular students), old people/pensioners ( even after retirement) and disabled people to work because of the falling birthrate. The same thing will happen in other European countries.
Well no one works in Denmark anyways so I don’t see this as a problem. /s
Never thought I’d say it. But thankfully I’ve got liver disease and likely won’t make 60. I’ll use my savings the last few years as I’m about done funding the boomer lifestyle.
Billionaires are getting richer while normal people will have to retire later, there’s no way you are gonna make me accept this shit with all your economics arguments… it’s just plainly fucked up, wrong, people with all the technological advancement and wealth in the world should retire at 60!
It’s kind of a non-sense. On one hand, people are forced to work for more years, and on the other hand, because of AI Revolution, will be less and less jobs for humans (no matter the age).
And I am pretty sure it’s going to become an European trend. And so, if it’s left like that (without an optimal solutions on the long term) I see dark times for europeans and hard time for governments and national budgets.
Also, things like this gives neo-fascist wave sense (even if they don’t have much, if at all).
I knew 20 years ago that public funded pensions are the lie of my generation. By the time I reach that age it will be over 75 and with limited amounts available. Everyone needs to plan as much as they can to find themselves (and I’m aware of the challenges in the modern age).
And the people in Denmark are ok with this? Not going to the streets?
Does it make sense now why people have been raising concerns about replacement-level birthrates?
Life expectancy in Denmark is 82 so they leave you the last 12 years, the worst of your life, for yourself. Enjoy.
