      Hitler actually came in second in the 1932 presidential election. Hitler was appointed chancellor by von Hindenburg after the Nazis won the plurality in the Reichstag but could not a form a government.

      The CDU learned from that to tilt left and form coalitions with the SPD if forced to choose.

      Actually the reminder of Hitler is what makes liberals push for catastrophic policies and lack of freedom of speech, which might in the end bring about something similar.

      They are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy with their false equivalences
