Officers arrested a 39-year-old German woman at the scene of the attack, which took place at about 18:00 local time (16:00 GMT) on Friday.
Police said there was “very concrete evidence” of mental illness in the suspect, and no evidence the attack was politically motivated.

The motive will change depending on the skin of the perpetuator.

Keep calm everybody. She’s a german lady with mental problems, not a non german lady with terrorist background. All good.

Germany’s train stations are a disgrace.
These severely mentally ill homeless people have rights, but their rights to occupy public spaces shouldn’t cost the rights of the general public from going to and from work safely.
Action is needed. Homeless people should not be in train stations. They should not be near train stations.
If you disagree with me you haven’t used a train station recently.

Hamburg Train Station is horrible. I was there last weekend and it was nearly not possible to step out of my train (ICE) because the platform was so cramped with people. Because of a blocked railway passengers couldn’t leave for hours…. Therefore more and more people stranded in Hamburg. This station gives me claustrophobia regularly. It was just a matter of time sth escalated… but unfortunately politics do not take the growing threats of knife attacks (no matter the motif) seriously. It is just everyday business now…

I don’t know how wide-spread it is but area around Hamburg hbf and also Bremen Hbf doesn’t feel too safe. It doesn’t necessarily feel dangerous, but also not safe.
There are always people who look like they are homeless and/or on drugs and/or is some sort of criminal (and in case anyone thinks so, not because of anyone’s skin color, I’m not German or “White European” myself).

Very unusual for a woman to be the perpetrator of such an attack
