Can any of the Germans please tell me if this favorable or unfavorable for the most of the population? And when it was implemented the first time was it popular back then also? Would you guys fight and defend Germany if Russia with help of North Korea invaded Germany?

How do Germans feel about other NATO nations that do not commit to NATO with the same level of contribution percentage wise?

Unless invasion is imminent countries should have it in their constitution that they have to pay soldiers more if they want a larger army.

Is this even a possibility in the constitution? Because if it’s not, and the government doesn’t have a majority to amend it, this is just empty fear mongering.

As someone who went through conscription himself, I only really have two major gripes with it, the pay is too low and it’s only men that are conscripted. Otherwise I thought it was a good experience, especially because it really removes you from your own bubble, you meet and interact with people from every social background.

Like in France, Gouvernement knows this is a huge risk for them because maybe 30%-40% of the draft age population isn’t totally aligned with Germany gouvernement.
Imagine Erdogan knowing he is going to have a not insignificant influence in what could be a large minority of Germany soldiers.
France is facing the same problems with their large Northern African demographic, they are scared creating a 5th column influenced by foreign interests…
