Calling Trzaskowski left-lib is very innacurate, he is a centrist or even center-right by some standards.

This is the unity we need. Vehemently argue each other in politics so as to improve and further both viewpoints and thus the country, whilst leaving it aside after-hours so it does not affect their personal relationship or stoke division in the country.

Now imagine CDU politicians posing like that with AfD in front of cameras.

Trzaskowski is from PO who are not just in EPP but used to lead it. He is “left-lib” compared to Nawrocki, who is supported by PiS and who are in ECR. However, calling him “left-lib” is like calling Friedrich Merz “left-lib”, which only holds true if you compare him to AfD

    5. It is sad that it is newsworthy that political opponents can act civilised towards each other.

Has Mentzen declared any position on the second round yet?

By the way, funny how many polish far-right politicians have German names.

This is how it’s supposed to go down.

We have elections, we enter in a competition of ideas, we argue… but, in the end, we all should want to get together and do what’s better for the country/people, and we should work together afterward.

Commentors have pointed out how inaccurate the “left-lib” description is, but I will allow myself to add that using commas can make you much easier to understand – the way you described it sounds like Mentzen is the minister thats a candidate at the same time. If you run out of commas for this week and thats the reason for their absence in the title; fret not, I got you some – ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

      “Left-lib”, I’m not Polish but even I know that’s not correct. Isn’t he center-right?

    10. Trzaskowski just keeps on winning after the debate.

I hope everyone goes to vote, every vote counts… We can’t have PIS again

Is coma needed in sentence? Or current FAM is a presidential candidate?

Minister of foreign affairs was needed to mediate discussion between polish candidate and russian candidate

    13. Left-lib? Trzaskowski is a right-liberal (EPP); the left-libs in Poland are Razem and maybe Lewica (though they’re pretty centrist pure keynesian liberals, really).
While there are actual right-wingers in polish politics (like f.e. people who openly advocate reinstating monarchy) there are no left-wingers at all in polish parliament. The most left we have is left-lib, which are the social democrats and nobody dares to publicly speak positively about the boogieman-phrase “socialism”.
I mean PPS does exist but it only has one senator and will probably completely die off soon.

It’s kind of funny to watch the meltdown this one scene has caused on the Polish internet.

It might be the first such an explicit anti-polarization move I’ve seen in the European politics and I’m down for more
