Europe can pretty much pull ahead right this second by grabbing the lead from the US and deal with Putin and protect Ukraine.
Triple the aid to Ukraine. And implement end game sanctions to squeeze the life out of Russia.
Once Ukraine wins and retake all of its territory, Europe would overtake the US in international influence IMO.

That’s the thing, if you presume that there will always be an open and stable international system, then of course you assume that some entity is going to replace the US as hegemon. That seems to me to be very naïve. First it presumes that somebody will rise to the occasion and prevent the world from falling into chaos, but second it assumes that the US wouldn’t actively undermine that.
I hope so. The EU / Canada / Australia/ NZ / SK / Japan need to take the lead. We need to cooperate. We need to defend democracy, the rule of law and human rights. If we fall, freedom ends.
If the EU does not have the same military strength as the United States, then the euro will not become the dominant reserve currency like the dollar.
That would take a sea-change, but I’d welcome it
If all European members are adopt euro, then possible. But many key players are outside of Euro.
