On May 26, 2014, Ukrainian troops began defending Donetsk Airport from Russian-led forces. Their resilience earned them the name “cyborgs”.
When this video was filmed, Russia was in the process of capturing the city, despite the people’s strong resistance. “Chervona Ruta” (Red Rue) is one of the most well-known Ukrainian songs. Donbas Arena, located in Donetsk, is the best stadium in Ukraine. Russia temporarily occupied the region in 2014, and the stadium has been empty ever since.
