I seriously doubt that “estimate”, It’s like COVID deaths someone has a heart attack but had COVID it was reported they died of COVID.

    2. Let’s not forget that the government led us down this path by cranking up fuel duty and creating big tax incentives for company car users to go in to diesel vehicles.

Yes diesel gate is something to do with it, but UK has a bizarre number of diesel cars on the roads and a lot of drivers that own a diesel ‘because fuel economy’, yet never drive more than 50 miles.

It’s so incredibly frustrating that barely 10 years later, local govt is starting to come after diesel drivers on the grounds of air quality. The signs were there all along and stupid policy decisions and incentives put us where we are.

“Across the UK and EU combined, the fallout from Dieselgate has included … economic damage of €760bn (£637bn), the study estimated”

How on earth do you calculate that?

“research for environmental law group ClientEarth.”

      Ah right. Totally objective then.
