To be fair, he’s an utterly failed comedian whose only selling point is his willingness to punch down, to flirt with racism and to deliberately cause offence. His audience are the racists, the bullies and those who don’t particularly find the jokes funny, but get a boner at the thought they might offend or upset someone else.

This sort of joke is par for his course and I’m surprised somewhere that would book him in the first place is bothered enough to pull the show.

    2. Spamgrenade on

That was the best joke he could come up with to end his career? Embarrassing.

    3. qwerty_1965 on

It’s just a pity he only had one show left in his tour. Would have been nice to have got more shows binned.

It wasn’t as if he did it once, he spent the evening at it.

    4. Freebornaiden on

He’s terrible. Horrible nasty human and he even looks totally wrong.

      Not remotely funny either.

      And…

This is why rightwingers aren’t very funny and don’t understand humour.

Oh right, this guy again. He was the one who made the racist jokes when England lost at penalties in the World Cup. I guess stuff like this is the only way he retains any relevance

    7. recursant on

Jimmy Carr might get away with saying it. I don’t think anybody else would.

    8. dewittless on

I saw this guy over a decade ago and he was quite good. He has since then become a bit of a shock jockey ghoul and doesn’t really garner much support in the larger comedy community as a result. A shame, he was pretty good once.

    9. ash_ninetyone on

If you want to know how his comedy career is going, he’s taken to being one of those wankers on YouTube that posts angry head rants about the world.

    10. llyrPARRI on

It’s almost impressive how he got his show cancelled for a joke when the content he got in trouble for didn’t appear to have anything resembling a joke in it.

How can a comedian of so many years be so cronically unfunny?

    11. AlienPandaren on

Unfortunately people like this don’t care about the outrage they’ve caused as that’s how they make money, all he’ll do is take note of the backlash and come out with something else equally shitbaggery

    12. Adept_Vegetable_8991 on

I used to work with his sister. She has the same surname and mentioned that her brother was a stand-up comedian. I worked out it was him (she also has ginger hair so it wasn’t hard).

Rather than be like ‘yes that’s him’, she looked highly embarrassed and apologised before I even mentioned any of the controversies he’s deliberatly waded into over the last 10 years.

    13. n0lesshuman on

Typical BBC bias front and center again how can they call this guy a comedian? 🤣

    14. AngryGiraffex78 on

I don’t get the big deal. Dark humour is subjective.

    15. superkevinkyle on

I remember him from when he was complaining about having too many ‘ethnic’ and women comedians over a decade ago

    16. Warm-Profit-775 on

It was pretty funny to me, that is the point of humor. It’s all subjective. I also made a joke about Trent being the driver and got banned lol

“the venue had lost their courage”

Andy it’s not brave to host a comedian who thinks the height of comedy is joking about a tragic event a day after it’s happened, and tweeting that “black guys are shit at penalties”.

    18. springloadednadsack on

When he was on the panel show scene, I quite liked him. So much so that when I went to The Fringe about 8yrs ago and saw his name on the bill I thought “oh he was quite funny back in the day”.

Massive mistake. Horribly racist and the people I went with gave me the stink eye for the whole thing. We left after 10mins

    19. asjonesy99 on

Fuck sake I had forgotten that fetal alcohol syndrome Russell Brand existed

    20. Haven’t seen the joke in question but either everything is fair game or nothing is with comedy.

I’m not even a fan of comedians having to say “too soon?” after a joke because time lapse doesn’t make something funnier or not, but that’s another story entirely.

    21. Jumbo_Mills on

Is this guy now going to go do rounds on TV talking about free speech and being cancelled(while lacking self awareness to know being cancelled wouldn’t give you a platform to) and make a new career out of appealing to the crazies? The Graham Linehan blueprint.

    22. SnooStrawberries2342 on

My mate took us to see him years ago before he turned into an attention seeking racist troll, and I’ve never seen a comedian so bitter about the size of the audience he’d attracted. He was whiny and shit.

Part of his routine was about leaving his office job on Friday night and returning on Monday without going out, talking to anyone, or washing, and I could fully believe it.

This is the perfect time to introduce my stage show “Never Joke About People Being Mowed Down by Cars”

    24. merryman1 on

It can’t just be me who low-key thinks at least part of the reason for a rapid release of ethnic information here is precisely because absolute fucking moronic chuds like this have made it very clear if the police do not ***immediately*** dispel any chance of this being called a muslamic terrorist attack within 60 minutes then that notion will do the rounds on all the right-wing cesspits and quite seriously have the potential to spark another nationwide race riot that causes millions in damages and dozens injuries?

Not that the chuds will ever appreciate the sheer irony of this of course…

Inb4 “This is why Reform will win RREEEEEEEEE!!!1!!” – If you don’t like being spoken to as a chud… Have you tried not being a chud? Its very simple.

    25. SunBlowsUpToday on

Shouldn’t have drove his car into those people, definitely went too far with that one.

    26. Ok-Chest-7932 on

I don’t have a problem with edgy humour, but I have to wonder what his angle was here. He saw “driver in Liverpool runs through a crowd”, thought “the lengths people will go to to get out of Liverpool”, and thought that was funny enough to bother tweeting?

Maybe if you gave it the right setup in a longer spiel it would work, but it’s too much of a non-sequitur to be funny, and not enough of a non-sequitur to be absurd, so it just results in a “cos Liverpool sucks, I get it” reaction, not laughter.
