He spoke really about what’s important to the Gaa, not about the importance to Irish society.

**GAA President:** We’re not people who talk about our feelings.
**Camogies Players:** We want to wear shorts as skorts are degrading. Why are we being treated differently and being ignored?
**GAA President:** Yup we just don’t talk about our feelings.
Took them long enough to hear it

What else would criminals hide behind to get glowing character references to justify their suspended sentences

This won’t be popular here. This place is filled with the kids who would purposely leave their runners at home on PE day.

I’m not a massive GAA fan, but to be fair it is massive for Irish society. Every parish in the country(?) has a GAA pitch (and hall?) which is often about the only thing a parish might have. A sporting and social hub, place to meet neighbours and have a chat.
A lot of places – particularly in rural Ireland – would be a much more grim if the GAA didn’t exist.

Important but still has massive issues with pedistiling scummy role models and excuses their crimes because they’re a good gaa lad.

He sounds good and looks good in a suit but if GAA is so pure and important to irish society Jarlath why the fuck are people being charged extortionate money to go to games, and why are so many games not broadcasted on our national station. This guy is a politician in disguise, a top notch waffler.

Try as I might I could never get into the GAA even being a culchie. I don’t bedrudge their place in Irish society though, it is what it is.

I do not like Burns using his role in the GAA to launch a political campaign

Might be a controversial opinion, but county players should get paid, even if it’s just teams who reach the semis or the all Ireland final
