That wacky Marx lover is back looking for power, its been a while.

I’m not sure why so many people are so desperate to have a Reform government as fast as they possible can…

    3. Pleasant-chamoix-653 on

Maybe Starmer reckons Netanyahu’s disapproval would topple him faster than public dissatisfaction

    4. Krabsandwich on

Well of course he would he wants a Soviet style workers collectives with a Politburo at the top, conveniently he sees himself sitting on said politburo.

What the UK needs is a proper left wing option right now, but with a competent leader who can actually talk to the media properly.

Basically Corbynism without Corbyn or indeed McDonnell at the helm.

    6. LingonberryNo3548 on

Starmer has done more for the country in a year than the tories did in 14 so of course the left wing want to sabotage him and end up with the conservatives again. Can’t possibly have the country improving.

Total tool. Does he want a nazi farage government. Looking at the USA now should be warning enougg

McDonnell ought to have some self-awareness. He’s not going to be the face or the brains of the British left

    9. “You are at risk of losing an election”, election loser tells election winner.

Has the left not learnt anything from what happened in the US?

    11. and we know Rayner will be trying for it, if not already behind the scenes. She last week said she doesn’t want to be leader, and we know that nothing is true until officially denied when it comes to politician speak.

As long as you win the argument. That’s all that matters, right?

The grass has been mowed but the roots are still there.

Not surprising… but who wants the Corbyn years all over again? Would be an absolute gift to Reform. That said Reform win would suit McDonnells agenda in my opinion.

    15. As far as I’m concerned they’re getting shit done. People expecting governments to do everything that they require are quite frankly deluded.

John McDonnel. Famous election winner John McDonnell. Man of the people. Perennial plucky loser.

    17. wkavinsky on

Can’t happen, first thing Starmer did was stack the executive and change the rules to prevent this kind of thing ever happening.

    18. TheObrien on

John McDonnell proving the he’s an ideologue far more than a man capable of governing the country, or even… winning an election.

Let’s have another trip to the Wild Wild Wilderness of the far-left.

grassroots, no matter where you live, is usually code for corporate backed anti-people politicians, or worse, foreign nations comprimised politicians who want to deconstruct democracies.

Labour’s move to the right isn’t working and the recent immigration nonsense is a massive turn off. They can’t out do Reform on immigration so will only succeed in turning off their core voters. Polls show Labour voters are far more likely to vote Green or Lib Dems than Reform, yet they continue to chase votes from the right. They are completely useless. Switching to anti immigration hasn’t worked for any Labour leader.

    21. Background-Flight323 on

He’ll have a job. All the left MPs were purged, selections were rigged to prevent left candidates from entering Parliament, and the leadership rules were changed to prevent a Corbyn-like candidate from ever being allowed to win again.

    22. DarthAnusCavity on

The fact that Starmer could have been well liked by making the changes he has, if he just didn’t go after the old and the disabled to save a few billion which is a drop in the ocean compared to our GDP, will always blow my mind. Pushing the most unpopular policies that weren’t risk assessed is just self harm, if he (which he semi is) back tracks on these two areas and then continues building workers rights, reforming the NHS and reducing immigration then reform will have no reason to exist.

    23. The hardcore left has no idea how hard it is to be in government. They don’t accept the necessary compromises and ask for the moon. Unfortunately that’s the path to get to the stinking swamp (Farage).

    24. Affectionate-Dare-24 on

Just for a tiny glimpse of context. John McDonnell had the whip withdrawn on 23 July 2024. He was a Labour MP for many years now, but at this time is sitting as an independent.

This may adjust views as to the extent of any Labour schism.

I’m not a Labour supporter, I’m a swing voter. I find the info useful to understand.

    25. FlamingoImpressive92 on

I think people always forget that any party isn’t just trying to get your vote, they’re trying to get your vote ***and*** someone who you wholeheartedly disagree with. Reform aren’t cloning supporters, they’re stealing them from the conservatives and socially conservative labour voters, these people are the ones labour are trying to stem the flow of. It’s often repeated here they’re loosing more to the greens/lib dems (though I don’t remember people backing that up with a source), regardless starmer isnt trying to loose so has paid some very well informed data analysts to see which is the better track. I imagine something along the lines of “we’ll loose some people to the greens and lib dems based on conservative policies, but lots won’t actually vote green/lib dems when it comes to an election (wasted vote) and the economic benefits of these policies could mean by the next election people have more money in their pocket so care less about immigration”.

People do things for a reason, if Starmer is constantly scoring obvious own goals and you’re able to give him easy wins, quit wasting your time on Reddit and apply to be his key advisor.

John McDonnel wanting to move away from being a government and back to being a cozy little debate club where everyone can make really brave statements like “inequality is bad!” and then feel good about themselves. Just pretend that the inconveniences of reality that make these problems hard to fix don’t exist. Fuck this useless cunt and people like him. So much fucking noise to achieve nothing but enable the Conservatives to fuck up the lives of people he pretends to speak for.

Imagine waking up on a day in 2029 and imagine the feeling in your stomach seeing Nigel Farage or Kemi Badenoch letting themselves into Number 10.
