      > A man wrongly identified on social media as being the driver of a car which ploughed into crowds of people in Liverpool says he has moved his children out of their home because he fears for their safety.

Stuff like this starts to let misanthropic thoughts come in. Have people become so addicted to instant gratification that they just believe random crap on social media?

How many of these people phone those numbers written on bathroom cubicles thinking they’re going to have a good time?

People whose desire to play internet detective outweighs their common sense and concern for other real people are as exhausting and dangerous as they are apparently numerous.

I’d be happy to add a tenner to a gofundme type account to fund a legal action against whichever platform this appeared on and the account holder.

    4. It was a particular kind of “free thinker” that immediately started pointing fingers, well, until he turned out to be white.

Surely, even if you are incredibly stupid, you have to analyse the facts. The guy who did it is in police cell being questioned. Sooo, by process of elimination, everyone not currently in a police cell can’t possibly be the person. Forget any white year old man aged 53 or whatever we have been told, just the actual facts

    6. Same thing happened on here with Reddit detectives accusing the wrong person of being the Boston Bomber in 2013, he was found dead a week later.

I’m a 50 something middle aged white guy in the north west. I’m worried for my families safety and my own. It’s only a matter of time before someone recognises me as a middle aged white guy and word gets out, on Facebook etc, and my doors going to get kicked in out worse. Every time i go to the shop people are looking at me, staring, whispering.

As a proud member of the middle aged white guy community, I absolutely deplore the actions of my fellow middle aged white guy but I want people to know that we’re not all like that. My children should not having to bee asking me whether or not they might be at risk should we be found. This man is not representative of me or for anything my community stands for.

Oh wait, no. Of course nothing of the sort of happening.. And I’m confused as to why not. Why aren’t I being held partially responsible. There should be a gang outside my house, or chavs flinging bricks at my windows. I don’t understand why not? Is it maybe because the arseholes who do that sort of thing for some reason don’t think I’m connected to the other middle aged white guy? That we’re not all the same? Is it because I’m the “wrong” ethnicity or colour and I get a free pass? Is it because they only hate the brown people and they haven’t got the excuse to go out and be openly hateful?

The fact that middle aged white dudes aren’t currently pariahs, proves incontrovertibly, that the people who riot after these events with the single whiff of brown skin or islam, are hateful racists who just want to be given that green light to express their hatefulness as they see fit. They are emboldened to hate and they’re stirred up by all the right wing propaganda bots that normally kick in at a time like this.

I don’t blame the machines that stir them up as much as i blame the individuals. The stupid thoughtless hateful mongrels that want to out and hurt or kill people they deem as third rate citizens. I enjoyed the mass arrests last time of all the hate mongers. I hope the people who see themselves as vigilantes who jump on every rumour like the ones this man has been subjected to are all found and charged. They need to be taught a lesson. I would be happy for reeducation camps.. F#ck em all.
