The whole month thing needs to be knocked on the head, will be interesting to see how many corporates go all in this year in comparison to previous.

I don’t get the article. One of the themes is the increase in homophobia, which by all accounts from people is very much true.

But then they talk about funding for events and that these events are disappearing because of a lack of corporate/state funding.

The 2 issues are completely separate and not linked. It seems like a lot of corporates are starting to veer away from it as they were being criticized by some in the LGBT community as “Rainbow washing”. Now they’re just steering clear and saying it’s not worth the hassle.

While I can understand why they would take the money I always found the corporate element of pride parades a bit odd.

Basically offering to rainbow wash brands that are often up to no good.

“In the US, numerous pride events were left in the red as sponsors pulled out amid a hostile climate for diversity and inclusion. In the UK, rural pride events have been folding or downsizing since 2022. Ireland is no exception, as illustrated only recently by the withdrawal of some commercial partners from Dublin Pride.”

Why should they get involved anymore.m? When they did, people just said they were future signalling.

    5. What is the case to be made that the taxpayer should fund a big party that celebrates one group in particular? Where does that money even go?
