Click bait title. Portugal didn’t save Ethiopia, from what I’ve read Portugal already had interests in the Indian and Red sea and so to resist the Muslim Ottoman empire who were expanding into that territory they assisted Ethiopia by lending them 500 musketeers since Ethiopia was also considered a Christian empire at that time. The 500 musketeers were led by an Ethiopian official during the battle that finally defeated the Ottomans.

Its a nice piece of history but clickbait title.
