*The last traffic cone and contraflow was removed from the A465 Heads of the Valleys road in south Wales on Friday night after a £2bn upgrade that started back in 2002.*

*The 28-mile (45km) improvement is designed to bring prosperity to one of the UK’s most deprived areas and cut journey times between west Wales and the Midlands.*

23 years to improve 28 miles of road is insane, talking just over a mile per year.

I live near the A465 and between the gorge work and the Merthyr/Hirwaun sections there has been major civil engineering and new bridge building works required. It’ll be nice if it is finally finished and there are no more overnight closures/diversions
