Are those numbers from the entire war, or just from this latest attack?

Just so we’re clear this is a mix of good and bad news. The good news is that Russia was hit pretty hard in their strategic aviation arm. The bad news is that these nuclear capable bombers getting hit may cause Russia to move up the escalation ladder, hopefully not in the unleashing the sun kind of way.

How many more operations like this will Ukraine prepare and execute in the near future? It would be funny if the moment that Mordor is delivering another suicidal ultimatum (that will be rejected) with the same stupid argument, “We will demand a more painful suicide in the future,” Ukraine inflicts another billion-dollar loss inside RU. Destroying most of its missiles, or most of its trains, or most of its refineries. And the negotiators just ask, “Even if you are right, how many hundreds of billions of dollars are you willing to lose and millions of Russians are you willing to kill so Ukraine will be forced to mass evacuate? Yes, we would rather abandon Ukraine than live under your stupid Carthaginian terms.” If Russians have brains, they would accept a cease fire now.

34% seems to be a cautious estimate. Russia does have a lot of planes, but they will exaggerate the number of airworthy planes. Most of them are old and now worn in the last four years. All in all, this blow will put more wear on the remaining frames. Spares went up in flames as well. Today’s events will save lots of ukrainian lives.

Unfortunately they don’t need a lot of bombers. Just a handful can still rain dangerous missiles over Ukraine if western allies don’t keep supplying AA missiles and batteries… keep it going
