If Ukraine really didn’t need Trump, Zelenskyy wouldn’t have bothered to be diplomatic with Trump, let alone sign a minerals deal with the US.

The operation shows Ukrainian resourcefulness and resilience as a smaller enemy compared to Russia, but it doesn’t negate Ukraine’s reliance on American aid. Ukraine’s broader war effort depends heavily on American assistance for advanced weaponry, intelligence, ammunition, and financial support. The operation will also not stop the Russian summer offensive; the next months will be brutal in terms of intensity.

People seem to already forget what happened the last time when Trump stopped all intelligence sharing with Ukraine. [The suspension has left Ukrainian forces unable to use some of their best weapons systems. The suspension impacted Ukrainian operations in Kursk Oblast the most and that Ukrainian forces lost the ability to detect Russian aircraft approaching Ukraine.](https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-march-8-2025)

The white house adminstration and some media outlets saying that the white house wasn’t informed isn’t enough to verify whether they had been or not.

Just another news piece analysing the situation using unverifiable information as if it was factual.

The headline Should rather be „Ukraine realized Trump is a russian asset“

What a stupid headline. We still need western assistance in weapons and intelligence and need em to finally impose real sanctions to cripple russian economy. The west must stop any trade with russia as we said all these years.

This operation saved the lives of thousands of our civilians so all these russian planes aren’t able to launch missiles on our cities anymore. But it doesn’t affect the situation on the frontlines, where russian meat waves grind meter after meter further into our territories every day. And russians still have an economy and more than a hundred millions in population which is enough for decades of these meat waves

You think this attack occurred without US intelligence?…

    6. Snoo_64233 on

You sure this was done without National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (which people often wrongly attribute to CIA) ?

      Please note:
“The West” is not just America.
There is also a vastly more capable entity called Europe.
Americans may have heard of it.

This operation – although the exact damage is to be confirmed, I think – seems to be a triumph for Ukraine and a huge blow for Russias desire to attack from the air with relative impunity. And it does hopefully reinforce that even without US support, Ukraine has an agility and will to resist Russia over far longer than people give them credit for – and indeed that even if Ukraine fell under occupation, that wouldn’t represent an end to resistance.

*But* it does need to be recognized it took 18 months of careful planning and work, and it’s not going to be easily replicated in the same way as operations using highly specialized, dedicated weapons could be.

    9. No one needs Trump. We need a reliable US. Ukraine needs reliable partners that take defeating Russia seriously.

Well, it needs friends, not enemies.
The US could be a friend, but with trump you need to be cautious.

Trump would probably have tried to put a stop to it to prevent escalating 🙄. Well done Ukraine 🇺🇦

They need as much help as they can get regardless how clever they are.
