Another “act hard” policy from a nobody politician trying to grab headlines that wouldn’t make sense in practise and achieve absolutely nothing.

I swear this man intentionally tries to say the most stupid thing he can think of every time he opens his mouth.

He really is trying very very hard to grab those headlines isn’t he? Ironically calling him out for it gives him another one.

How long has Badenoch got left do you think?

    4. Logical-Brief-420 on

Yeah no shit. Jenrick the Ozempic Queen just generating headlines not serious policy as per usual.

What he’s really suggesting is to arm prisoners.

Because as soon as anything kicks off in a prison, the nearest prison officers are going to be grabbed and relieved of their weapons, which will be used against them (and other prisoners).

If he does this, it’ll be a tossup whether the next large prison riot has more screws being tasered to death or more nonces.

Has he somehow forget we privatised the prison service? Does he want to arm contractors? Plus it’s stupid idea.

Hmmmm, two stories about the same irrelevant tory MP in as many weeks? While the party’s prospects circle ever closer to the drain? Is somebody winding up to have a stab at a party leadership challenge

What a stupid idea. Easy way to get guns into prisoners’ hands. Are Tories and Reform lobotomised and then re-programmed by US think tanks?

    9. He’s not saying this for you, or prisoners or the country. He’s saying it for the Conservative Party membership because he’s firmly in leadership campaign mode.

He’s been releasing a number of statements targeting various Conservative Party bugbears, prisons ought to suffer more, filming himself picking a fight with fare dodgers to seem like a man of action.

I wouldn’t be surprised if next week he says makes a statement about bin collections or e-scooters. You know, the kind of small scale stuff that really excites the party faithful.

Yeah but Robert Jenrick also reckons Sadiq Khan ought to be chasing fare dodgers around the tube. At this stage I think he’s just desperate for attention.

I do sometimes wonder how many Tory MPs and SPADs are members of this sub. The ideas they come up with could easily come from here at times.

He’s going for the overthrow, appear to be a hard man, get Kemi out, become some sort of hybrid Boris/Vance monster.

It is the most infuriating thing for me at the moment – all this talk of armour and tazers, and now guns and shit.

Spend money on the one thing that will reduce violence and self-harm, and increase outcomes for prisoners – put more staff on the landing.

They’ll look for any answer that isn’t the most obvious and demanded from staff.
