Every government since Blair at least has been shouted at by various speakers for this.

Apparently its acceptable to make major policy announcements outside the house when the house is not sitting, so it looks like backbenchers want their egos stroked by announcements in the house when its possible to do so.

As a member of the public, I’d just like the government to get on with business. Too many things are taking an age as it is.

    4. I dont approve of breaking the code, but at this point its been done so many times over so many years, and with the nature of modern media landscapes, waiting days to announce in the commons is just absurd.

We need to shift to announcements are fine, but must be followed up with a debate within days in the commons.

Frankly, you’ll get a better debate and scrutiney if people have a few days to absorb it and prepare.

Fine for him to take a ridiculous amount of gifts though isn’t it…

If the Tories did it, you’d all be outraged. But Labour get a free pass?

Life is so much easier when you realise they’re all incompetent and corrupt to various degrees.

    8. Once the norm is far removed from the written code then it makes sense to update the code.
