if it’s оливье it hasn’t been fixed, it’s a russian dish no matter how much i and other people hate russia, russia has many great dishes, along with солянка and more, let’s not change things because of politics, this is no different to russians calling борщ russian

Why is it called Russian Salad in the first place? Why not “Potato Salad”?
I’m intrigued by the etymology of the name.
I’m also intrigued by the fact that at least the spice/herb profile isn’t listed given how variable potato salad can be.
