Yes, I’m sure the government is actively keeping energy prices high to make business harder and that this needs to be reflected in a specific industrial strategy that, *checks notes*, actively slows down the process of weaning the place off natural gas.

I would however enjoy the looks on the CBI’s faces if they get told that yes, they can have lower prices in exchange for investment in local storage and flexibility contracts.

I mean this would require the government to have a spine and take control of our energy infrastructure rather than let a bunch of for profit companies repeatedly run scams on us. So basically it’s never going to happen.

Yes, but… UK warehouses alone have enough roof space for [15GW of new solar power](https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/business/insights/how-factories-and-warehouses-can-reduce-energy-costs-with-solar-panels/) then on top of that there are factories and offices. 1GW is probably enough to power 300,000 homes (this is a the LOW end of the estimates, I’ve seen far higher).

Unlike housing, warehouses and industrial units are occupied and in full use during the day so can actually use the power they generate so less need for storage.

How many industrial builds are currently being planned with zero installed solar capacity? I don’t know what the answer is but it is probably too high
