Good, it’s about time the older generation got a break. For too long have successive governments and businesses over the past thirty years focused on the youth and their prospects; it’s only right and proper that the elderly finally get a focus.

i’d be curious to find out the stats in accidents caused by over 60s vs 25-50 lol. 17-25 usually drive like knobheads but its the minority that cause accidents

      Edit:
Turns out the data backs up these choices in reduced quotes. There are less casualties 50-70 but the frailer 70+ age range is where people are being killed or severely injured

Mine has doubled over the past few years and this year is up about 10% on last year.

No changes to anything, apart from a few more grey hairs.

    4. Why is it that age is the only characteristic that it’s okay to discriminate on when it’s insurance?

If they said black people crashed cars more and should pay more there would be outrage. Hell they got flack when women used to have cheaper insurance then men.

I’m beginning to think they just pull numbers out of a hat.

Last years price £275, this years quote £657 (we know you may be disappointed, things have changed yadda yadda). So I go do the Meercat thing, best quote £232. Start the cancellation process with the old provider – miraculously the price for renewal is now £245 (lower than the year before).

This year was £120 less £50 cashback, so £80 for the year.

And that’s for an insurance group 25 car.

Insurance companies like to make money. So if over-50s are getting the cheapest insurance, it’s because they make fewer and/or less expensive claims. They’re not doing this as a bit of charitable work for the elderly.

If that wasn’t true, some insurance company would specialise in young drivers, undercut the existing insurers and pay themselves a big bonus.

more attempts to stir up hatred between the old and young.

      keep at it old news

I was shocked when my insurance renewal came in back in April at £220. I paid the same company £303 a year earlier and got £45 cashback from Topcashback. I did a comparison this year when my renewal arrived and even with cashback my renewal couldn’t be beaten.

The insurance industry has definitely improved for the better in the time I have been driving.

As for the article, of course older people will have cheaper insurance. They have bigger no claims bonuses.

I would argue that a younger person is benefiting more from cheaper insurance as a percentage decrease for them is going to be higher in actual money saved than the same percentage for someone like me.

They are falling? Mine jumped up 50% for no reason

Then again not a revered elder yet
