The far right in Poland (and Finland i think?) is way less friendly to Russia than other parties in Europe

Yeah, just hope these won’t become excuses for suddenly stopping to support Ukraine.

I think this is pretty good, but I don’t understand why he mentions these “historical issues.” Ukraine recognizes its past, so what is it supposed to do? It wasn’t only Ukrainians, Poles also committed the same kinds of acts against Ukrainians, both in the early 20th century and later. Holding people accountable today who had nothing to do with those events seems like pure propaganda.

Can someone explain this to me. Does the President of Poland have any power outside of Poland? I thought the PM, or whatever Tusk’s role is called (pretty sure it is PM) was the head honcho for decisions outside Poland and the President was mostly for national level politics only? I know that this can tank policies and what not that Tusk wants to pursue, but outside of that I don’t actually have a good understanding of the whole PM vs. President in other countries.
Just an American asking questions.

He’s pretty anti-Russia from what I understand. Not necessarily pro Ukraine but the enemy of my enemy is my friend I guess

Are his demands regarding recognition of WW2 atrocities a smart compromise for Zelenskyy?

I know next to nothing about Poland’s political sphere, but from what I am reading about the new administration, they seem to be anti-russia. So why is everyone going ape shit on r/europe?

We will be asking to join Ukraine. They have current combat experience in this AI/human war they are in.

He is backed by PiS but when comes to foreign policies and economy there is a consensus between almost all major Polish political parties. At least when comes to direction of foreign policies. He will be for sure more US-oriented than Trzaskowski would be but still don’t expect for him to call for Poland leaivng EU. And don’t think we will get more euroskeptic approach than we had under Duda. The main question is how independent he will be. Already rejected Kaczynski’s protegee for his chief of administration which is good sign
