Shannon will fly to Lapland, Madrid and Madiera starting this Winter
When you get to Lapland, ask Santa for a Dublin City to Airport Metro and a direct rail link from Dublin Airport to Shannon Airport…
Great, except all the fares from Shannon are a rip off.
I kind of want to go down to Madeira but when I looked at it before the only option was fly very late on a Sat night landing around 1am and back the following Saturday and it doesnt seem that big of an island to deserve a full week. Ive friends who went and said they had done everything of interest by the 3rd day and were a bit bored in Funchal after that for the rest of the week.
One disappointing thing about Madieira though is that they replaced their viral Christiano Ronaldo statue. The local sculptor had depicted Ronaldo with his neck so wide that it looked like his head was on a T-rex. The sculpture was so bad it was good but Ronaldo hated it and he ordered it to be removed so he didnt have to look at it in the airport every time he flew home to Madeira. They replaced it with something that looks a bit more like him now but all the fun was in the first one.
