      Massive win for Yorkshire.

Hopefully they remember stuff like this in 4 years time when Farage is whispering in their ears that immigrants are really dangerous and only he can save them.

About time Leeds got a tram system started.

Absolutely baffling a city like that doesn’t have one.

    3. I’ll believe it when there’s trams running. 2.1 billion is a good amount based on the Edinburgh experience, but we’re ten years later and this project is considerably larger in scope than the Edinburgh one.

It says the Tram will go to the White Rose Centre. How about finishing off the train station that’s half finished there and using that instead?

I mean it’s great that things are happening such as this, but where is the money coming from? Genuinely wondering.

I welcome this as a Leeds resident. But its just frustrating.

      * We have just spent 10 years having our roads dug up and restructures/pedestrianised etc at cost to us a local tax payers. Massive disruption to travel. Even just getting around is a nightmare. Now much of that is going to have to be dug up or restructured again to accommodate trams. Its 10 of work now being undone.
      * The proposed routes by the council are pretty shite and don’t really go anywhere that not easily walkable in the city center and dont go anywhere else that people need to get to. White Rose. Airport etc. Nor does it go to any of the suburbs and link them up, like Manchester does.
      * Leeds/Bradford is already served by regular trains via two separate routes. What we need is investment in our busses which are in a shocking state.

Really welcome the investment. But like many residents, we have a growing fear and cynicism that this will be a expensive nothing. But I **hope** its the start of Leeds getting the investment it really really deserves.

“Spades in the ground”. This will end up covering the costs for some menanial consultancy before they decide the cost is going to swell to £20bn
