I’m surprised they have the troops to spare in Russia.

Not sure what the troop build up is about, talk of direct conflict is madness. Finland is hard as nails and gave them a battering in WW2.
I wonder what the end-goal is. It says “test[ing] NATO’s resolve” in the article but how is that information worth sending 50k soldiers to Finland while still stalemated in Ukraine? If NATO is not resolved to defend Finland are they going to pivot to invading Finland and leave Ukraine? No. So why do this now when those men would be more valuable in Ukraine.
From a surrender vs fight view, Finland will be better off surrendering, even compared to winning. They should go down the white flag route.
I’d love to say this would be insanity from Russia not only because ya know Finland is in a better position than Ukraine was at the start of 2022. Or the fact they’re in NATO or a modern European nation. Or that the land around the Finnish/Russian border would make any invading force want to instantly commit suicide because of how difficult it would be…
But this is Russia we are talking about. 2025 Russia. Who have basically put their entire economy and stock into the Military. With Cheeto man wavering on supporting Western Allies.
Most of Europe seems to be very uncomfortable in the last 2ish years in particular in regard to Russia. So I’d put some stock in having concerns.
I feel for the person serving as they are not protecting us their country but employed by politicians to fight a UN war with the corrupt Ukrainian government – hope they see sense and leave
Its still less than what was there before war in Ukraine.
Why are they scaremongering at the moment. Is this preparing us not for war but for increased taxes and expanding the industrialmilitary complex
Maybe we should be posting equal numbers to Greenland
My sister is going on holiday there in a couple of weeks.
