It’s called regulatory capture. Ireland’s housing rules are set for and by landlords.

Absolute joke, why isnt there protections going back further than 2022?

    3. the fact there are loopholes to allow perfectly good tenants to be evicted from their homes in 2025 is astonishing. i suppose years and years of voting for the landlord parties doesn’t help much.

    5. Not a particularly new ‘loophole’. I’ve known this was a risk since I started renting.

Absolutely terrible for these people of course.

    6. How convenient that it wasn’t spotted before, and it works out in the landlords favour.

There needs to be limits on foreign firms buying up multiple properties.

And if you make any negative comment about it you get slammed with downvotes. Ireland seems to love high rents and weak, unfair tenancy rights.

Always found it highly hypocritical for a country and political establishment that loves to evoke the narrative that its roots are to be found in a righteous uprising against unjust rents and poor treatment of tenants.

Once the ladder was pulled up however…

Yeats was spot on about the place in September 1913 — the greasy till sums it up well.
