    1. A lot of car insurance companies offer similar breakdown assistance as either part of the policy or as an optional extra. Works out much cheaper.

Leave it expire and join again the following week as a new customer

    3. As a long term member of theAA I think this is a slight exaggeration.

Firstly no. Your insurance does not cover anything like theAA. You get a towtruck to the nearest garage.
Some insurance companies offer a premium breakdown for additional cost but again no where near theAA.

You only need to breakdown 300km from your home to fully understand the benefit of theAA.

Full family put up in a hotel. Car is towed to a dealer 300km in your home town
      Rental car provided next day.

The cost alone outside the aa would have been nearly 1,000 euro.

The cost of theAA breakdown has gone up considerably, however I always ring and get a discount of the renewal – just like car insurance.

TheAA is not for everyone but if you have 4 family
Members and split the cost it’s a literal no brainer.

Breakdown assitance is like a 50quid extra on most policies and is more or less the same as Roadside Rescue and Home Start.

It’s their extras that you haven’t added that bring any new benefits.
