I hope this is his way of saying that the strategic bombers that are being moved further east will be taken care of

I still can’t believe there is no one in Russia who will stand up to Putin. Nearly a million casualties in Ukraine and the public yawns (or worse, cheers him on!). I guess the Russians really regret changing their constitution to allow Putin to serve forever.

      >President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine and its allies are very close to the moment when Russia can be forced to end or at least halt the war, but this would require the United States to impose tough sanctions on Russia.

Not sure the US will do so. More importantly Russia will not stop until it gets a complete defeat, or the regime collapses from within. Comments like this will give allies false hope of Russia giving in for a truce or some temporary solutions. Then Krasnov will find a way to undermine Ukraine’s position through “negotiation”.

Only a concrete military defeat of Russia will bring true peace. President Zelenskyy has to stand firm on that idea

I wonder about Ukrainian produced missiles. I read today that Ukraine has tested a protype of a ballistic missile (just google if you’re interested). It was a strike on a Russian command post. 300km range with a 500kg warhead (sounds like a lot, goodbye bridge). Ukraine have also, at least, their neptune missile but perhaps. Now, mass production is suppossedly complicated by that the country is constantly under missile attacks (understandable). Ukraine is building new underground facilities to resolve this. My thought is why they don’t use facilities in another country instead. UK, for instance, would allow that I assume. Much faster than building underground facilities.

I don’t see how. The motivations for Russia to stop just aren’t there, and while Ukraine’s winning the attrition war it’s not at a point where it can force anything militarily.

Pragmatically Russia should stop now, it should’ve never started. However I agree with Anders Puck Nielson that this is about being a great power. Hence why they’ve only offered surrender terms so far. As soon as this war is over Russia stops being a great power, but while it’s going they can pretend to be on the same level as China, India, America or Western Europe.

I tend to think this war drags on until Russia has to concede defeat, but that will take a long while yet. I just don’t see them accepting reasonable terms until it’s clear Ukraine is militarily superior, and that’s not going to occur this year.

Russia will keep the invaded territory and won’t leave. A cease fire or a temporary peace time just to reorganize and finish what they started.
