The idea of living in a country devoid of the livelihood of the youth upsets me a lil.
This is going to cause problems down the line. Poland was notorious for out-migration in the 1990s and 2000s, as countless Poles left the country for higher-paying jobs in the US, UK, etc., they’ve also had an insanely low birth rate for 30 years, and Poland generally opposes migration. The recent surge in Ukrainian refugees ironically helped counter some of their population decline, but the country is in for Bulgaria levels of population decline in the coming decade. They already lost over 100k people last year and this is going to spell serious challenges for infrastructure (railways, highways, water, etc.), especially in rural areas that are depopulating. Warsaw and Krakow are doing well but they definitely need to ensure the population decline has a soft landing.
I’m in my mid 40s with 3 children. From my secondary school only about 20-30% of my classmates have children. I’m not trying to be classist but I’m the only higher educated person from that class of 30 who has children (I come from a small town 30k people). I don’t keep much contact with any of my classmates but see their lives through social media and they don’t seem out of the ordinary but I would also say that atleast half is not married.
No judgement to them. Children are kind of a burden at times. I would say that they never stopped me from being successful professionally nor have they stopped my wife. We worked around our work to support each other with my career being more demanding so my wife made more sacrifices. I would say we do sacrifice everyday leisure time which has been non existent many times.
Logical conclusion of conservatism.
The only cure for not wanting a kid is having your own house. Even the most cats’n’dogs only people I know decided to have kids once they got themselves a big suburbs house.
Now ask yourself how likely is for young fertile humans to have a house, not a small rented cage in the city most polluter street.
Happens when you invest into old people instead of young.or neither.
