      Err… that’s a bit of a “Holy shit!” moment…

      >The AWACS platform reportedly detected the Russian aircraft 200–300 kilometers from the border and relayed targeting data in real time to the F-16.

      That means that :

      1. The Swedish AWACs are in Ukraine finally, and operational
      2. Some Ukrainian F16s are now fitted with Link-16
      3. They can receive remote targetting data directly from the AWACs
      4. And they can set the targets for their AMRAAM missiles from the link

This means that any Russian aircraft coming close to the border to drop FABs is now potentially in range of Ukrainian missiles, which has never been the case previously. If they can start knocking down Russian bombers regularly, then it will completely change the ground war as well.

I have a feeling that the orcs don’t have the skilled pilots that they used to have. Not that they are not very dangerous, just not elite.
While Ukraine has lost several pilots who were elite, I think they still have some. And the “average” below elite is higher in Ukraine than in Muscovy.
It’s time for ruZZia to be afraid to fly.

This is big. The real MVP here is the AWACS because without it the Su-35 is favored more than the F-16 in an air battle. The AWACS likely allowed the F-16 to engage beyond the range that the Su-35 could have because of radar detection range. In a usual head to head without AWACS the radar suite on the Su-35 should allow it to get a shot off first. This is proof of concept that Ukraine can engage in air to air battles and largely win them because they have AWACS support and Russia has next to no AWACS available anymore.

Excellent! Using a (former Dutch) F16 for what it was built for.

      Remember MH17

The AWACS planes changes the game. The F-16 has rather limited radar and the SU-35’s radar normally would detect the F-16 first. Now, the AWACS plane sees the SU-35 much earlier and sends the coordinates to the F-16, allowing it to aim the missile before seeing the SU-35.

Praying this awacs doesn’t get taken out about a r37m…

The eye in the sky? Oh yeah.

Sweden with the clutch aircraft supply.

Piece by piece, Ukrainian air space is going to become a place of peace and strength.

This is great and I hope it leads to countries sending more, for every F-16 Ukraine gains and every Jet/Bomber Russia loses the gap gets smaller and smaller, it would be amazing to see Ukraine get air superiority
