I just wait for Orban to copy Trump and use the military against these protests.

Summer is usually called “pickle season” in Hungary, its the time when nothing happens, as everyone, even the politicians are vacationing. Well, it won’t be pickle season no more.

The Civic Resistance Movement was founded by members of the public, its not a political party and it wont be. Still, it will give Orbán at least another reason to keep drinking.

On another note, it very much seems likely that Tisza will be able to achieve a supermajority, as more and more polls measure Tisza close or above 50%.

      Protesters: ‘Free press!’
Orban: ‘We prefer a subscription-based model!’

When (not if) Orban rigs the 2026 elections the people will be too exhausted from protesting

Thing is, these protests have been going on for a while. And they don’t seem to lose steam. Also, in this protest it was specifically said that simply protesting is not enough: we will need civil disobedience, blockades and strikes.

Another notable fact is that Orbán’s party hasn’t been able to organize a protest this big for awhile without weeks of preparation and bussing people in from all over the country. The Fidesz has grown tepid while the opposition is slowly becoming more and more active.

      Great!

Please speed up the resistance, though, dear Hungarian friends, before Orban and his gang initiate steps that are irreversible.
