Whilst I was aghast at the headline, the second paragraph included important context:
“While awaiting trial on the firearms charges, Mr Fitzgerald (22), from Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, stole another weapon from a neighbour and fired shots in a Carlow shopping centre before turning that gun on himself.”
So the gun bought from the Gardaí as part of an undercover sting wasn’t the one used in Co Carlow.

Kelly’s absolutely off his rocker, the lad showed up to a shopping centre armed and had flammable liquids ready to deploy.
Trying to portray him as a young lad with ‘issues’ is mental, after getting arrested for trying to buy weapons he went and stole a gun and walked into a busy shopping centre and let off rounds.
If anything they were too lenient with his bail conditions, yet Kelly is trying to argue they were too harsh.
Mind boggling

Total incompetence from the Gardai. He was a ticking timebomb

What an absolute click bait if a headline. It’s clearly designed to make.you think they provided him with the weapon he used to cause his own death.
When in fact they “supplied” him with them via a controlled delivery followed by an immediate arrest.

Is he known to psych services I wonder. He certainly seems to make some kind of psychiatric condition going on.

It was a “controlled delivery”. Corrupt Gardai selling guns.

Between this, the Michael Gaines case & allowing that Satchwell sack of dog shit walk around for 7 years with his wife under the floor, I’d be embarrassed to be a Garda at the moment, they’re obviously not fit for purpose.

I know exactly what corruption is and there’s widespread corruption in the Gardai. The reason I’m getting downvoted.
