It’s not hard to manufacture consent in an authoritarian country.

No shit Sherlock. It has been never “Putin‘s war” like various people pretend. It’s just what Russian society is and has been for centuries. But “Putin’s war” narrative is very convenient: sooner or later siloviki will do the old trick of replacing Putin with a new “young, liberal-minded” leader and then doing “reset” with the relieved West. Sanctions end, investments come in and in ten years Russia will have a new army ready for another round.

It’s hularious how slow Europe is at figuring out Russia. Glad it’s finally happening, but sad to see how much suffering it took for us to get there.

    4. But but but… Reddit said that the Russians are only afraid of protesting and only support the war because of authoritarian pressure.

It took some people this long to realize that Russians suck ?

Of course they do. Russians have wanted this war for a long time. They chafe at the hate they’re getting because they can’t believe that people around the world don’t support Pu’s nonsense.

    7. you also do not hear much of the opposition because windows randomly open I guess.

Either Dumb or corrupt exact same situation with trump followers, or any dictatorship to be honest.
The dumber the population, the more followers you have.
A thousand year old simple, tried, and tested way to rule, why do you think the GOP are targeting the education system in the states!!
      Fuck dictatorships, what ever country!

Russians don’t want their economy to suffer or their country to suffer. They are extremely nationalistic even the left-wingers. This is not like Americans or Israelis where the progressives often talk about giving away the country or not really having it anymore. They live in Russia and speak Russian and can have very good jobs in the big cities if they are connected. Many don’t want to move as many nations just around Russia are former communist states that were made poor by USSR. So Russians don’t want to move there.

Even the progressive left-wing supported the annexation of Crimea for example. It was like 85% support as I recall. They are pretty much all fascists. That doesn’t mean they actually want the war. People above 40 really want it. Especially the older people who adore Putin and won’t go into the military. The young people don’t want or need it. They still want to win as they want a win and want fewer economic restrictions so winning the war would also just end it. No one in Russia is against the war openly as you’d go to prison for that opinion. The young people are sorta against Putin overall as they literally have never had another leader. He was president when they were born. But it doesn’t mean they are pro Ukraine or fully against the war.

Not exactly. Most Russians don’t like this war and will be happy when it’ll finally over. But it should be over with some kind of victory. Recognition of new Ukrainian borders and guarantees of no NATO in Ukraine, for example. And yeah, the idea of Crimea returning is not popular, even in Crimea itself.

O really? 3.5 years of war and they just concluded that…was obvious way before the 2022

It’s called 100 years of brainwashing!

Propaganda is so strong, many Russians don’t believe anything… So when something terrible happens, they don’t believe it . Complete mind control

It’s amazing how thick and tinted the West’s beer goggles have been when viewing Ruzzia. Yeesh!

I mean duh, a whole country being feed by whatever its goverment wants them to belive. I wouldnt count their “support” if they barely have any idea of the reality outside that bubble
