>Ian Hollett, who was Alex’s coach and chief instructor at the gym where he trained, Hurricane Combat and Fitness in Liverpool, said his club was not affiliated to Kickboxing GB and there were no rules which stated clubs had to be recognised by governing bodies.
Sounds like there should be a law. He’s just lucky that he can’t be charged with manslaughter.

They use the Phrase “15 year old child” and then you see a photo and find out he’s way taller than the average adult. Also the adult he fought literally has nothing to do with the death.

Doesn’t seem like the fight with the 34 year old was related at all.
Unfortunately, freak accidents will happen in any contact sport.
Ban blows to the head and they can still drop dead from blows to the chest. Just a risk that anyone who wants to engage in any kind of contact sport takes.

Not a combat sport, but I played adult contact sport (rugby) at a similar age, in adult teams and against adult teams. It provided me with an opportunity to develop in my sport.
Anyone taking part in combat (or indeed contact) sports is aware of the risks. It’s just part of the sport.
Did I get injured? Of course I did! It’s rugby, FFS. So did some of the adults. I was aware of and accepted the risks.
Some teenaged lads need sport in their life. It’s an outlet for emotion. It instills discipline, teamwork and determination.
Legislating to stop a 6’7” 15 year old fighting adults would’ve meant his only opposition would have been kids his own age. Kids he was bigger, stronger and more able than. Would you want your 15 year old kid fighting uneven contests..?
