Parliament voted on the law against anti-Semitism and fascism. Penalties of up to 10 years in prison. In plenary session of Parliament AUR, S.O.S. Romania and POT MPs criticized the project to combat anti-Semitism, citing the restriction of freedom of expression, while PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR supported it as a measure of protection against extremism.

The law will punish anyone who promote fascist, hate and xenofobic material on the internet and media. He loves to spread fake news a lot.
Romanian society is very healthy. I am an American citizen but a resident of Romania and I can say that Nicușor Dan has brought a lot of hope to the country. The 47% that voted for Simion are of course present but I feel that they represent that rural, uneducated and older demographics. I feel that the general opinion of the public is that stronger EU ties are vital, and Russian ties will not help anyone.

I remember as a teen when mobile phones and texting were relatively new, feeling like I was failing to live up to the masculine ideal if I used too many exclamation points. Now, it seems one can’t be a patriot! if one doesn’t indulge in multiple!!! AND INappropriate CAPITaliZATION TOO!! MORON! (MAKE! OUR! ROMANIA! OUR! NATION!!!)
The law only gives more censoring power to the current government, which is very corrupt and it will do anything to maintain it’s power. Sad to see people embrace this

The only way to deal with fascist wolves in sheep’s clothing is laws like this that make them think twice before they spread lies and fascist ideology on the internet. The small erosion of basic decency and the normalization of fascist propaganda is the biggest threat to democracy in our generation. Little by little their lies add up to convince large numbers of people that reality isn’t reality, and the only one to save them from the reality they believe is the fascists.
So disrupt the lies and propaganda.

His opinion is not in line with the establishment yet again he is still free. Btw as a side note, this “freedom fighter’s” party is one of the parties who vetoed the permission to shoot unautharised entrance of Russian drones in the Romanian airspace. He also considers himself nationalist. He is nothing but another Russian sponsored dog.

Calling people slurs does not infringe on my free speech and tbh Im suprised people are fine with how it infringes on yours…
To be fair, you are still free to say anything, but being free has consequences. For example, you are free to jump off a building, but you need to accept that this freedom comes with a consequence. You can see it at work in Russia, where it seems that people, usually jump from heights, through barred windows, to their demise.
Why the hell is Europe and the US a crap show right now… I need some sense of worldly hope. Christ on a cracker….
