A fanatic agreement for the people of Gibraltar and the workers from Spain. Great diplomacy from all parties

I wish property in Gibraltar was more affordable, it’s the only place I can think of Britons can move to for a better life now 🙁
Everything else is affordable, it’s just finding somewhere to life that’s the big hurdle!

Fantastic deal for Spain (and the residents of Gibraltar), we basically got joint sovereignty of the territory without renouncing to our claims, we even got “boots on the ground”, something that was a red line a couple years ago, I’m 99% sure that we only got this deal because Spain threatened to veto in the EU everything relating to the UK, just like France did with the fishing deal

Is this the first British territory within the Schengen Area?

      >Spanish border officials would be able to deny entry as it would be possible for British arrivals to continue their travel into Spain and the EU free-travel area without further checks.

      >UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the deal protected British sovereignty and supported Gibraltar’s economy.

These two statements (and the others that mentioned “sovereignty”) appear to be in conflict to me.

How can your sovereignty be protected if another country can now tell you if someone is or isn’t allowed on your land, that too it’s your own citizen?

Because it sounds like Spain can now stop British citizens from going to a British territory, and I fail to see how that doesn’t mean British sovereignty has been eroded.

Maybe someone can clarify if I’ve misunderstood something or if the BBC missed something that some other news source has added that resolves the contradiction.
