      The joke is probably the guy on the left acting like he understands the joke so the other guy doesn’t think he is stupid

      I think the joke is that the guy on the left pretends to understand the joke only when the guy on the right says that only smart people understand it so that he appears smart.

      First, the man on the left says that he doesn’t understand the joke he’s reading or seeing. After the other man has pointed out that you need an IQ of more than 130 to understand this joke, the first man pretends that he has understood it now and finds it funny.

      It’s not an abyss of profundity or a flight of humorous fancy, but that’s the joke.
