      > Still, US tech firms continue to win service contracts in Europe. Some Nextcloud Summit attendees were horrified to learn that the IT provider for Germany’s armed forces had contracted Google for the Bundeswehr’s cloud services.

My 100% state-owned employer is also about to switch to a US hyperscaler (from its own datacenter…). I just wonder what the thought process of the people in charge of that decision was and how much weight was given to geopolitical risks…

    2. Sure, one can trust Google or Microsoft: they renamed Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America for EUROPEAN USERS like good Trump lapdogs. All US big tech companies are fascists and they are hostile to EU no matter what they say.

This is ridiculous. Why do we keep learning nothing sometimes v

    5. I guess **cloud** finally got old as a buzzword?

For anyone else confused, “**hyperscaler**” means “**someone else’s server**” just like **cloud** did. In this case with an emphasis on the ability to scale according to need, but that was half the point of “**the cloud**” anyway.

Boycotting usa is a reddit echo chamber opinion. If usa boycotted us back, we’d be in deep waters in europe.

PS: People in comments are typing this on an american social media platform, just as a reminder.

Is there a TL;DR? What does it mean, is something new built in Munich?

Nothing will come out of it. Bluesky was popular when Trump became president and now no one gives a f about it. We are still all on twitter. Same with this… we are mad now but in 3 months it will be like.. oh anyhow, whatever
