I don’t think they are going to have any trouble with the public approaching an 18ft snake.

Panic over! Can confirm Percy the one eyed python is now safely back in my pants.

Which version of Python is it? Some of the earlier versions are less dangerous…

Really sad that someone abandoned these. I’d love the space to keep an 18fter and it would be awful if they were to get harmed.
Hope a home gets found for them.

Two points:
1. For once we have the right photo for the species.
2. The dumping of these reticulated pythons really pisses me off.
I like reptiles, and ever since I got over my phobia I have a huge appreciation of snakes.
We spent time fostering on behalf of rescues as we had a large setup to handle all sorts of exotics, but the one thing that always annoys me, like with any animal as a pet, is people not planning for the long run. People like the idea of a big snake, but the reality is different. Retics get big, they need a lot of space, and whilst not venomous their bite has the potential to cause mechanical damage. They deserve respect.

Ugh, this breaks my heart.
My reptile room is my happy place. Only have one Retic, a Burmese, Boa, and the rest are all smaller species, but I couldn’t ever imagine abandoning them. It’s just so cruel.
And, selfishly, it gives ignorant people an excuse to dismiss the hobby as a whole.
I feel guilty if I am a day late on the water changes.

I just googled where Humberside is from my location. About 240 miles away. Not far enough!

“These snakes will not attack you,” Not true if they are hungry they are 100% capable of constricting and swallowing a dog whole or a child, at 18 foot that’s no joke snake.

As opposed to the python kitten, which is totally harmless.
