Located 60 kilometers from Kyiv, Makariv was a peaceful suburban haven until the full-scale invasion, which left it under Russian occupation for 34 long days. During this time, Russian troops destroyed up to 30% of the town’s buildings.

Despite these challenges, the local community turned wartime adversity into an opportunity for growth. This commitment is exemplified by Miracle Town — a unique community created in Makariv to provide housing for senior internally displaced persons whose homes were destroyed by Russian hostilities in various regions of Ukraine.
