That’s crazy low. CEOs provide way more than 52x value to shareholders. They’re underpaid.
52x doesn’t even seem that high considering some are paid 50-300 million a year. I was expecting 1000x.
Not a surprise. Most c suites have stocks as part of comp which can make significant difference in there comp.
Work the first week and take the rest of the year off for the exact same standard of living
(Not including other income 🙃)
Someone managed to squeeze in an article about the real problem between all the articles about immigration?
BREAKING NEWS: The boss makes more money than the not-bosses. Stay tuned for more
When talking about the earnings of CEOs it should automatically include any bonuses received and along with stock too to give a real picture of earnings.
What bothers me is not the CEO pay. Why would we expect that to be any closer to the average worker? The responsibility is more. What does get my goat is the reward for failure – latest case Thames Water. They don’t seem accountable for their failures which is unforgivable.
The median salary is about £37k, so based on this the median CEO would be on ~£1.9 million a year.
That doesn’t sound unreasonable. Anyone can apply to be CEO if they think they have what it takes to you probably don’t want the cleaner running your bank though.
I get that people are angry about stuff like this but how much do they want workers to be paid in comparison to the CEO exactly? Half the amount? 10% of the amount? The same?
Sickening greed. Nobody’s productivity, worth or value is equal to 52 standard workers. Pure, selfish greed.
And I lived long enough to know that next year it will be slightly higher.
Compare to America it’s not that bad. Still ridiculous of course.
Tax should increase by percentages for companies that don’t consider paying their employees a priority.
A 5:1 ratio would be fair. 10:1 would be difficult to comprehend.
And the press wonder why we all cheer on our annual billionaire sacrifice. Only last week, we had one swallow a bee and die of anaphylaxis.
Can’t help but feel like we’re entered some new feudal state — not one with land and monarchs, but one with attention and billionaires. Everybody’s been cheering these deaths on like the neo-medieval peasantry we are.
The amount of corporate dicksucking in this thread.
Some of you guys need to reevaluate your lives because you’re either a shill or you’re doing it for free where the CEO won’t even see it which makes your life even more pathetic.
Is this a problem. They are typically in the role for 5 years but I the f up they are out in far less.
They are leading a business that provides employment and share holder value and that’s their job.
I have an issue when businesses are reliant on staff having their low wages subsidised by benefits but in companies where this isn’t happening, and where no public money is in play then it’s up to them to set compansation.
