Some more info on firebird AI here, excuse me if I have to be skeptical considering the past examples.
-Firebird builds itself as a San Francisco and Yerevan based cloud company.
-The CEO and co-founder is Razmik Hovakimyan
-Technical support for the project will come from Team group telecom, which is an Armenian owned company, and not Ucom and Viva cell, which are Russian owned. Team group has an Irish subsidiary.
-Nubar Afeyan from Moderna will join firebird as a founding investor and strategic advisor for the initiative.
-Specific terms for the project, particularly in regards to the Armenian government’s role have yet to be made public, like tax incentives, subsidies or anything else.
So here’s why i’m cautious.
-Barely any information about firebird, i’m sorry but i’m really skeptical here, let us not forget what happened to FlyArna/Flyone, or the French telecommunications company, i think it was called Orange? We have too many records of startups being abused and shut down, and investors pulling out and never investing again. I don’t want to consider Nvidia working with firebird should be a safety net, as i think Jensen was advised by Lev Lebaredian, who in turn is promoting Armenia for good reasons, but might be tricked.
-Do we know who’s Razmik and his past or present relations?
-Team telecom is great (I think?), at least it wasn’t given to ucom or viva cell, so that’s a good decision by the state.
-Nubar Afeyan, I’m not sure about him. He teamed up with Ruben Vardanyan, Artur Alaverdyan and Richard Azarnia, with big promises. But have we seen any real outcomes from that collaboration over the past few years?
-The government terms matter, I am not trying to spin this negatively but I don’t trust the government making plans, there’s almost always something shady.
So overall, yes, great initiative, but we need to have less hype and more information on who’s involved, what’s involved, how it’s being done. I did not research everything/everyone myself, just asking questions.
