11k is nothing. This is such non-news and rage baiting.

>”This amount has no impact whatsoever when it comes to meeting our savings targets,” he explained, emphasising Kela’s size — the agency has 8,500 employees.
I wonder if any of the benefits recipients who are being denied money they genuinely need for necessities would find better use of those funds.
I think government here has lost the plot. I think it’s time for a huge reassessment of what government means and stands for.

It was a fairly big party for a fairly important figure. I’m more surprised it was only 11k for it as usually these kind of things end up taking way more money. Or are used on even more wasteful things.

Several comments doing insane mental gymnastics to defend government misallocation of funds? How messed up in the head do you have to be?
It’s an obvious argumentation error to falsely equate small misconduct with no misconduct.

“Costs of 2.40 Euro per person” doesn’t actually sound too bad.

That’s a fairly inconsequential amount though. It’s less than three euros per person.
I’ve spent 19k on water analysis samples this year as a geologist—amounts like this get used up on a daily basis everywhere. Shits expensive.

As a Swede who recently flew economy between Helsinki and Stockholm, I had the pleasant surprise of being seated next to the Finnish Presidential couple. I recall being genuinely impressed by this, as it reflects a grounded perspective and a mindful approach to both state finances and the public image of their office.
It would be commendable if more high-ranking officials, on both sides of the Baltic Sea, adopted a similar mindset to be honest.
I am not saying that you should not show appreciation for employees who leave after long and loyal service. But as Nordic citizens, we know that it doesn’t take much to feel appreciated. Give me a tasty cake and a book, and I am happy for weeks.
My proverbial two cents, for what it is worth.
