Note this is why the UK wanted nothing to do with FCAS, it was painfully obvious the unstoppable force of French industrial interests meeting the immovable object of German industrial interests would cause chaos.
It only make sense for Dassault to lead the project, after all they have more experience in fight jet dield than airbus
France-Germany is the most dysfunctional relationship in Europe today. Both have giant-sized egos that make them toxic to every other partner and especially to each other.

Ohh well, I guess Germany and France skipping 5th and 6th gen. Try again in 7th generation fighters after 2070 sometime.
Fighter jets aren’t the future, drones are.
Once again it’s the Dassault CEO stirring shit. Germany and Spain are able to discuss their grievances in private, as grown-ups working on an international defence project should. But every couple of months Dassault needs to air out the dirty laundry in public and make a ruckus.
Unfortunate realities of European Union
It will never be United Europe, same as United States if this 2 countries would not accept other ‘regions’ interests
Would of been the same with French submarines for the Australians.
Are you guys all [unaware](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus#cite_note-shares2022-4) that Airbus is just as French (10% government owned) as it is German (10%) and the Spanish are in for 5%… Welcome to the 21th century people, this is between companies, not governments
Europe wanting to get into a tech competition with the U.S. is a losing bet.
This is the EU for you. EU will never compete with US and China. Europe can’t be united and more sooner than later it will again be at war against their own, once the bloc will collapse and become irrelevant to the realities of their demographic, economic and social stability collapse
