Won’t someone think of the poor airbnbs
It’s good to see the self-claimed salt of the earth, man of the people, millionaire landlord Michael Healy-Rae caring about his most vulnerable and desperate constituents, the landlords with second holiday homes.
I don’t see an issue with this. Renting out a house as an Airbnb is effectively a change of use. Short term lets like these can have an adverse effect on neighbours (parking, noise, increased traffic etc) and should undergo the same process as any other change of use to a building.
Forcing the county council to properly plan how tourist accommodation works is a good idea. Unchecked mass tourism causes lots of problems. Now is the time to act.
